Aaron W. Hueneke

July 13, 1925 — February 9, 2014

Bellevue, Ia. Aaron W. Hueneke, 88, of Bellevue, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Mill Valley Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, February 13, at St. John Lutheran Church, St. Donatus with Pastor Shane Koepke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #273. Friends may call Wednesday evening, from 4 to 7 pm also at St. John Lutheran Church in St. Donatus, and again Thursday morning an hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bellevue. Aaron William Hueneke, son of Herman and Alvina (Knief) Hueneke was born on July 13, 1925 in St. Donatus on the family farm. He married Phyllis Jean Roeder on August 29, 1948 in Andrew, Iowa. He served the United States Army during WWII. He spent time in Italy with the Army Medical Corps. Aaron farmed most his life. He was a hard worker and took pride in everything he done. In 1993, Aaron and Jean sold the farm and later moved to Bellevue. He enjoyed retirement by spending time with family and woodworking. Aaron was truly a great man, he was trustworthy, optimistic and always made time to help others. He had a great sense of humor and easy to get along with. Aaron was very involved in his community and church. He was an orginal board member of the LaMotte Telephone Co. and Bellevue Hospital. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #273. Surviving are his children, Duane (Lavonne), of DesMoines, David (Chrystal), of Maquoketa, Debra (Bruce) Weis, of Springbrook, and Darla (Chuck) Till, of Dubuque; daughter in-law, Judy (Bob) Hueneke-Kremer, of LaMotte; 14 grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and two sisters, Mildred (Cletus) Davis, of Dubuque, and Irma Schumacher, of Ames, Iowa.
