Alice M. Downey

Alice M. Downey, 86, of Bellevue, passed away Monday, October 7, 2013, at the Unity Point Health - Finley Hospital in Dubuque. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning, October 12, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation for Alice will be held from 9:30 11:30 p.m. Saturday morning at the church prior to the service. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Alice was born on July 19, 1927 in Preston, Iowa, daughter of George and Esther (Paulsen) Keil. She married George Downey on April 8, 1945 in St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue, he passed away July 12, 1993. Alice was a hard worker, she held many jobs throughout her life. She was a secretary for J. P. Dagman Law Office. She worked at the Bellevue Creamery for over 30 years, and later worked at Hingtgen Boutique and Hawk Hollow. Alice was outgoing, friendly and always wore a smile. She enjoyed reading, baking and visiting with friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Nancy Mickelson, of Bellevue; two daughters in-law, Marsha Johnson, of Eagan, Minnesota and Peg Downey, of Apple Valley, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Lynne, Shelly, Mykel, Brian, Bailey and Shay; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Judy Daniels, of Baldwin; sister in-law, Ruth Keil, of Bellevue; and close friends Ed and Char Hawks. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dennis; and two brothers, Norbert Dutch and Darrell.
