Alice M. Nemmers

Alice M. Nemmers, 69, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, April 26th, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Alice was born February 19th, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa, daughter of late Howard & Loretta (Everhart) Ehredt. Alice attended St. Marys Grade and High School. She married Donald Heavilin in 1956 and had three children; Stephen, Sheila & Kerri. She married Marvin Churchwell in 1968 and had one son Joseph. She married Edward Nemmers on August 28th, 1991 at the Church of the Visitation in Camanche. He survives and has two sons, Edward and Denis. Besides her husband, Edward Nemmers, survivors include; two daughters, Sheila (John) Ziegelheim of Longmont, Co. Kerri Heavilin, of Houston, Tx. Two sons, Stephen Heavilin of Davenport, Joseph (Karen) Churchwell of Hot Springs AR, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; two step sons and two step grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Emily Delaney of DeWitt, Ia., four brothers, Tom (Thelma) Ehredt of Bettendorf, Ia., Robert Ehredt, Clinton, Richard (Delores) Ehredt of Lake Geneva, Wi, and James Ehredt of Clinton along with numerous nieces and nephews and their children, including many, many friends. Alice had a great sense of humor, always ready to share a laugh with you, but most important she always made time for a friend. She was very much loved by her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but always remembered by everyone who knew her. Pall Bearers will be Roger Cox, Edward Stremlow, Richard Petersen, Ron Izer, Todd Rogis and Steve Meeker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by; one sister Jean Cook, 2 sister in-laws, Carol Ehredt and Patricia Ehredt A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 30th, 2007 at the Church of the Visitation, Camanche, Iowa. The Rev. Fr. Richard Okumu will preside. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Clinton. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-6 PM at the Lemke Funeral Home, South Chapel, 2600 Lincoln Way, Clinton and again on Monday until the time of procession. The Lemke Funeral Home & Cremations Services, Clinton are in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Castaways Disabled Veterans or a charity of your choice.
