Alice M. Weinschenk, 78, of Bellevue, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 28 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Alice will be held from 1:00 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Monday morning after 9:30 at the Funeral Home. Alice was born May 6, 1932 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Ries) Ernst. She married Lavern L. Weinschenk on May 9, 1950 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. He passed away December 14, 1997. Alice and her husband Lavern farmed the family farm South of Bellevue, before moving to town in 1995. She was a quiet, patient and loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren where everything to her. She was extremely proud of all of them. Alice always kept herself busy, playing bingo, taking bus trips, playing cards with the Young At Heart Card Club and spending time with her best friend and aunt, Katie Ries. Those left to honor her memory include her four sons, Joseph (Deb), of Camanche, Iowa, Richard (Karla) and Tom (Deb), both of Bellevue, and Lavern Jr., of Springfield, Illinois; three daughters, Donna Kress, of Dubuque, Nancy (Jeff) Mueller and Sarah (Ron) Sieverding, both of Bellevue; Fourteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou (Lawrence Jr. ) Griebel, of Bellevue; five brothers, Carl (Olivia) Ernst, Marvin Ernst, Greg (Patricia) Ernst, of all of Bellevue, Donald (Frieda) Ernst, of Andrew, and Herbert (Joanne) Ernst, of Dubuque; two sisters in-law, Mary Ernst, and Ann (Bob) Beschen; and aunt, Katie Ries. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Robert; and granddaughter Melanie; brothers, Harold, Joseph, and Norbert; sister, Algean; and two sisters in-law, Mary Joan and Shirley Ernst.
