Apryl A. Beardslee

April 20, 1921 — January 18, 2008

Apryl A. Beardslee, 86, of Clinton, died Friday, January 18, 2008, at her home. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at Christ Episcopal Church in Clinton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Foundation. Lemke Funeral Homes - Lyons Chapel, is assisting the family. Apryl was born April 20, 1921 in Dayton, Washington, the daughter of Tom D. and Vina Belle (Dury) May. She grow up in Manchester, Iowa were she granulated from Manchester High School. She married Harold Watson in 1944 to which Apryls only child was born. She later married Howard Pauline. Both Harold and Howard preceded her in death. She then married Dr. Alan Beardslee in 1990 and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2006. She had been employed as a bookkeeper at several locations in her youth. As a young woman, Apryl and two of her friends formed a trio who won a Major Bowls talent contest. They went on to sing professionally in New York and go on several USO tours. Apryl was a very independent person who was high spirited and never met a stranger. She loved to paint, collect antiques, and was known for her gardens and her work with the poor. She was an avid reader and had an interest in almost everything. She and her husband loved to travel and go dancing. Apryl was a member of the Sweet Adelines, winning two World Championships, and Christ Episcopal Church, where she was very active. She was planning on moving to Washington State to be with her family, which she deeply loved. Surviving are her daughter, Julie (Bill) Spark of Arlington, Washington; a brother, James A. (Jane) May of Scottsdale, Arizona; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.; and several nieces and nephews. Beside her husbands, a brother, Maynard May, preceded Apryl in death.
