Beverly Anne Murphy, 65, of Miles, IA passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at University of Minnesota Hospitals and Clinics. She is now soaring with the angels in heaven. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 8th from 3-7pm at Lemke Funeral Homes Lyons Chapel, 2304 N. 2nd St, Clinton, IA. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 9th at 10am at Miles 1st Presbyterian Church. Pastor Bill Warhover will officiate. Pallbearers will include Bernie Fish, Dave Burke, Danny Pataska, Wayne Daniels, Curt Shannon and Harlan Wiebenga. Honorary Pallbearers will include Mikayla Murphy, Kyle Murphy, Shelby Wilke, Sakota Wilke and Jayden Wilke. A luncheon will follow at the church. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday following the luncheon at 4pm in Washington, IA. Beverly was born on August 10, 1942 in Washington, IA to Lawrence and Geneva (Shebeck) Howell. She graduated from Columbus Junction High School in 1960 and received a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics from Iowa Wesleyan College, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She was a substitute teacher for over 25 years and taught Home Economics in Miles from 1964 1968 and in Clinton for two years. Beverly married Tom Murphy on June 18, 1966. She enjoyed playing cards, shopping, reading, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, judging for 4-H, and always was a planner. She loved traveling with her husband whether it be to see her children, grandchildren, or friends. She was a member of the UPW, Miles Presbyterian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and various other activities. She also sold Avon for 17 years. Survivors include: husband, Tom, Miles, IA; one son, Jason (Colette) Murphy, Olathe, KS; one daughter, Heather (Russ) Wilke, St Paul Park, MN; 5 grandchildren (Mikayla, Kyle, Shelby, Dakota, & Jayden); one sister, Barbara (Roger) McAllister, Mt Union, IA; one brother, Everette (Nancy) Howell, Letts, IA. Her parents, Lawrence and Geneva Howell, preceded her in death. The family requests that memorials be made to 1st Presbyterian Church of Miles and the Youth Scholarship Fund.
