Charles L. Norpel

Charles (Charlie) L. Norpel 63, of Maquoketa, formally of Dubuque, passed away peacefully at Crestridge Care Center on Sunday, March 2, 2008 surrounded by his family. Charles was born August 10, 1944, in Dubuque, son of the late Richard and Janaan (Lewis) Norpel Sr. Charles worked at ARC in Dubuque. He loved spending time with his family. He loved country music, dancing, singing, playing his harmonica and guitar. He enjoyed going to movies, especially action films. His favorite holidays were his birthday and Christmas. Survivors include two brothers, Richard (Diane) Norpel Jr., Stephen (Elizabeth) Norpel all of Bellevue, and three sisters, Mary Norpel, Dubuque, Suzanne (Charley) Fondell, Bellevue and Laura Norpel of North Liberty; 16 nieces and nephews and 21 great nieces and nephews. Besides his loving parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents Earl and Gertrude (Ehrlich) Lewis, and Charles and Laura (Meier) Noerpel and Herman Pogeman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 8th, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. The Rev. Fr. Stephen Meyer will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Bellevue is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous and Albrecht Acres.
