David Jacobs

David J. Jacobs, 60, of Springbrook, passed away Sunday morning, March 6, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning, March 10 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Dave will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and again Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. also at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue. David was born on February 24, 1956, in Maquoketa, the son of John Jacobs and Loretta (Banowetz) Peterson. He married Laurie Krogmann on August 4, 1979 in St.Marys Catholic Church in Clinton. Dave was a hard worker, he farmed, was a mechanic, and drove school bus. He enjoyed watching drag racing, reading books and most importantly spending time with family. He was a proud grandpa and loved every minute he spent playing with his grandchildren. Dave was also involved in many organizations, 4-H, Cattleman, Extention Council and Knights of Columbus. He will be deeply missed. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 36 years, Laurie, of Springbrook; three children, Carey (Jeffrey) Goetzinger, of Cuba City, WI, Josiphine (Cody) Palmer, of Andrew, Iowa and John Jacobs, of Bellevue; two grandchildren, Nicholas Goetzinger and Addilynn Palmer; Four sisters, Darlene (Corbin) Dekoster, Sandra (Robert) Simon, Joyce (Glenn) Devereaux and Linda (Dennis) Hook; and many nieces and nephews.
