Dorothy Lea Meggers, 73, of DeWitt, IA was called home by our Lord on August 19, 2007, after losing a courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy passed away at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at 2:00P.M. at the Lemke Funeral Homes South Chapel, 2600 Lincoln Way, Clinton. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2007 from 4-7PM at the Lemke Funeral Home-South Chapel, 2600 Lincoln Way. Pastor Douglas R. Schoonover will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will be James and Rick Owens, Ryan Cherry, Dave and Tom Rogers, and Mark and Ross Meggers. Honorary Pallbearer will be Duane Frahm. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Dorothy was born on February 9, 1934 in Rolla, Missouri, to Clifford and Olive (Lamb) Leavitt. Dorothy was a graduate from Rolla High School. She married James Mac Rogers on Oct 5, 1952 in Fordyce, Arkansas. She later married Donald Lee Meggers on December 20, 1980 in Rock Island, IL. They were married 26 years. Dorothy had been a homemaker for many years. She was also employed by John Deere Plow & Planter until leaving in 1982. Dorothy loved to spend time with her husband collecting antique furniture and collectables. They later owned and operated the 5th Ave Flea Market in Moline. She also was a member of The Kings Daughters. Dorothy was a mother to 3 daughters whom she loved dearly, she will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Donald of DeWitt, three daughters; LaDonna Rogers of DeWitt, Della (Rogers) Scott of Low Moor, Ardda (Rogers) Lucas of Coralville; five grandchildren; James Owens of Low Moor, Rick Owens of Davenport, Misty Scott of Geneseo, Shayla Scott of Washington D.C. & Lily Rogers of Coralville, one great-grandchild, Jordan Ohweiler of Moline; six step-children; Nyla Seamer, Mark Meggers, Nancy Paulsen, Ross Meggers, Mona Tollenaar, Rene Farrell; one brother; Joseph Leavitt of Rolla, Missouri; many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and two very dear friends Connie Box of Silvis, IL, and Jeanne Tournear of Annawan, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister Della Walker; one brother Clifford Leavitt Jr. Condolences can be made online at www.lemkefuneralhome.net.
