Elaine Dorothy Dunn

Elaine D. Dunn, 93, of Bellevue, died Friday morning, September 29, 2017, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Monday, October 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be held in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Elaine will be from 2:00 - 5:00pm Sunday afternoon at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, in Bellevue and again Monday morning prior to Mass at the funeral home Elaine was born on May 15, 1924 in Bellevue, Iowa, daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Michels) Yeager. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1942. Elaine married Richard Russell Hopson, on May 15, 1945; he died in December 1945 while serving in the US Navy during the war. During that time Elaine worked at the Savanna Army Depot. After the war ended, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Tilton in Bellevue. Through the years she also worked part time at the Library and later the Bellevue State Bank. On February 16, 1967, she married Edward J. Dunn, he passed away on August 30, 2011. Elaine and Ed adored each other and enjoyed playing many rounds of golf together well into their 80s. They kept busy visiting family and traveled to Florida for many winters. Elaine was reserved and quiet, but very competitive. She loved to play cards, and participated in both golf and bowling leagues. Elaines faith was also extremely important to her. Those left to honor her memory include her son, Richard (Patricia) Hopson, of Bellevue; Step Children, Suzanne (Bernie) Steines, of Bellevue, Edward (Barbara) Dunn, of Roseville, California, Michael (Glenna) Dunn, of Roanoke, Virginia, and James (Kathy) Dunn, of Bellevue; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a sister, Jeanette Brimeyer, of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands, Richard and Edward.
