Elinor M. Cheney

Elinor M. Cheney, 93, of Bellevue, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. Elinor was born December 17th, 1914, in Springbrook, daughter of the late Henry and Cora (Weinschenk) Sturm. She married Roger Cheney on July 2nd, 1935 in Springbrook. He preceded her in death October 12th, 1997. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Mary Cheney, Bellevue; one son-in-law, Vernon Hunstad, Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Linda (Gary) Ackermann, Bellevue, Sherri (Mike) Noonan, Delhi, Shelley (Dr. Mark) Ackermann, Ankeny, Brian (Jennifer) Cheney, Northboro, Massachusetts, Angie (John) Long, Bellevue and Mike (Diane) Hunstad, Robins; great grandchildren, Dr. Jeremy (Heather) Ackermann, Brienne (Chris Sabers) and Brett Noonan, Andy, Abbey and Allyn Ackermann, Jack Cheney, Collin, Cayden and Sophie Long and Lauren and Jamison Hunstad; great great grandchildren, Elijah and Ava Ackermann. Besides her husband Roger and her parents she was preceded in death by a son Larry Cheney on September 11th, 1990; a daughter, Joanne Hunstad on February 4th, 2004; a grandson, Mark Hunstad in 1980; a brother, Julian Sturm and two sisters, Leora Scholtes and Cornella Heim. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 at the Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home in Bellevue. The Rev. Stephen Meyer will preside. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of services all at the funeral home.
