Erma G. Cheney

Erma G. Cheney, 91, of Bellevue, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 21 at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue. Pastor Paul Gammelin will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Erma will be held from 3:00 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at funeral home and again Friday morning after 9:30. Erma was born December 7, 1919 in Clerrmont, Iowa, the daughter of Clarion Jerry and Hazel (Barnhart) West. She married Clyde Red Cheney on December 22, 1939. He passed away December 9, 1995. Erma was employed at Christensens Greenhouse, JC Penneys, B& G Automotive Parts, IWI Motor Parts and the Butter Company all in Dubuque. She liked to keep busy and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, traveling and entertaining friends and family. Family was extremely important to Erma. In her later years, she enjoyed car rides with her two sons. Erma was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor her memory include her two sons, James (Sherry) Cheney and Richard Dick(Pamela) Cheney, both of Dubuque; five grandchildren, Gina (Jeff) Reichel, Jamie Cheney (Fiancé, Cristian Chavez), Jolyn (Wayne) Miller, Christopher Cheney, and Christina Cheney; four great grandchildren, Wayne Miller Jr., Jenna Reichel, Jason Reichel and Jayme Miller; two sisters, Naomi (Wayland) Welty, of Texas, and Shirley Coleman, of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother in-law, Donald; and sister, Margie West.
