Gary L. Helmle

Gary Louis Helmle, 73, of Bellevue passed away peacefully at Maquoketa Care Center Saturday November 4, 2023.  No Public Services will be conducted.

Gary was born July 29, 1950 in Bellevue to Donald and Mary (Haxmeier) Helmle.  He graduated from Marquette High School in 1968.

Gary was a self-employed contractor and an avid woodworker.  He also enjoyed horseback riding, truck pulling and fast-pitch softball.  He owned and operated Helmle’s Midtown in Bellevue with his brother Jr for many years.

He is survived by his children Holly (Chad Michels) Helmle of Bellevue, Garret (Brooklynn) Helmle of Kokomo, IN, BriAnna (Dave Klauer) Budde of Bellevue, Crystal (Sean) Ayres of LaGrange, GA; 5 grandchildren, Britany (Chance) Deppe, Chase Meggers, Teegan Helmle, Carter Michels and Colson Ayres; 3 great-grandchildren, Avery, Sophia and Tucker Deppe.  Siblings Dennis (Vicki) of Bernard, IA, Roger (Kathy) of Ward, AK, Steve (Cindy) of Bellevue, Randy (LuAnn) of Dubuque, Donna (Todd) Olson of Glendale, AZ, Joseph (David) Pereira of Bettendorf, Donald Jr. (Cherri) of LaMotte, brother-in-law Terry Gaherty of Dubuque, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Mary, sisters Sharon Gaherty and Lori Helmle, grandparents Joseph and Mary Helmle and Louis and Katherine Haxmeier.
