Gerald V. Oster, 80, of Bellevue, died, Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home and again, Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 until service time. Gerald was born on June 15, 1927, in Bellevue, son of Jacob and Frances (Hingtgen) Oster. He married Betty A. Duscher on July 14, 1955, she passed away November 8, 2001. He worked at Goetz John Deere Implement in Bellevue, retiring in 1987. Gerald a quiet man of few words, had a heart of gold and loved his family. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, driving through town, and spending time with family. He also collected John Deere miniature toys. He will be deeply missed. Surviving are his four sons, Eugene (Jenny) Oster, of De Sota, Missouri, Jake (Pam) Oster, Jimmy Oster, and Jeff (Tammy) Oster, all of Bellevue; two daughters, Sharon (Greg Salazar) Zeimet, of Bellevue, and Marlene (Everett Thines) Oster, of Preston; eight grandchildren, Jesse, Jared, Tom, David, Haley, Lucas, Ty, and Shayla; three step grandchildren, Brad Mitch, and Matt; four great grandchildren, Jake, Aaron, Evan, and Ava; two brothers, Ardell (Marie) Oster, of Long Grove, Iowa, and Eldon Oster, of Bellevue; and two sisters, Rosemary (Don) Morehead and Algean Park, both of Maquoketa. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and Grandson, Jamie Joe. A Gerald V. Oster Memorial Fund has been established.
