Gordon D. Reed

Gordon D. Reed, 80, of Springbrook, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.  Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, December 30, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, Iowa. Visitation will be 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, December 29, 2023 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, Iowa, additional visitation will be Saturday 10:00 am until services at the church.  Burial will be in First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bellevue, Iowa.

Gordon was born February 3, 1943, the son of Carlton and Garland (Gaylor) Reed.  He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1961.  Gordon married Marie Adams Miller on August 13, 1994.  Gordon was a lifetime farmer, he loved the land, enjoyed bowling, racing stockcars, playing euchre, dancing, and spending time with his family.  He was an avid toy collector and had a good sense of humor.  He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.  He was a lifelong member of the Bellevue First Presbyterian Church, Farm Bureau Member, and was inducted into the Jackson County Cattlemen’s Association Hall of Fame in 2017. 

Survivors include his wife, Marie; children, Brian (Julie) Reed, Todd (Kim) Reed, Angie (Bryon) Watson; step-children, Kerry (Ann) Miller, Melanie Miller, and Marie Miller; grandchildren, Brianna (Matt) Greenfield, Stefanie (Austin) Daniels, Alex Reed, Ryan Reed, Danielle (Alex) Henscheid, Brennan Underwood, Azariah Reed, Joey Watson, and Siaya Reed; step-grandchildren, Van Miller, Raven Medina, Franklin Miller III, and Christina (Michael) Sexton; 4 great-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; a brother, Max (Mary) Reed; brothers and sisters in-law, Jim Keil, Stephen (Vicky) Adams, and Judy (Robert) Asche.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ross (Ellen) Reed and Barb Keil. 

Memorials may be directed to Springbrook Fire & Rescue and EMS in Gordon’s memory.
