Grace M. Maiers

Grace M. Maiers, 77, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Mill Valley Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Bellevue. Visitation for Gracie will be held prior to the Funeral Mass from 11:00 a.m. 12:45 p.m. at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Gracie was born on February 27, 1937 in LeClaire, Iowa, daughter of Fred J. and Marie L. (Greiner) Maiers. She attended St. Joseph Grade School in Bellevue and the School for the Blind in Vinton, Iowa. Gracie enjoyed singing all types of music. Her love of animals was apparent by her collection of stuffed friends. Gracie always welcomed her family and friends helping her mom serve cookies and coffee. Her hobbies included coloring and jigsaw puzzles. Those left to honor her memory, include her sister, Jean Ann Van Deusen; sister in-law, Connie Maiers, of Dubuque; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Fred Jr. The family would like to thank Mill Valley Care Center for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Gracie these past thirteen years.
