Harriette Koppes

Harriette E. Koppes, 92, of Bellevue, died Monday, January 30, 2006 at Sunrise Villa in Bellevue. Harriette Esther Reyner was born May 22, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Frank S. and Nellie (Cruise) Reyner. Harriette graduated from Maquoketa High School in 1931, attended Kent State College in Kent, Ohio, Maquoketa Junior College, and taught in the Jones and Jackson County Schools for seven years. Harriette married Marvin M. Koppes on June 13th, 1936 and worked in his law office in Bellevue for 55 years before retiring in 1990. She organized a Reyner Family Reunion in 1990 which brought relatives from all over the United States. She compiled an extensive Family History Book. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, making candy for Christmas gifts and entertaining family and friends. Survivors include, a nieces and nephews, Gloria Sue (Ken) Schatz; Franklin (Marie) Reyner, both of West Union; nieces Rita (Tom) Daugherty and Katy (Gary) Roeder both of Bellevue; Ruth (Bill) Conway of Bettendorf, and Mary (Bob) Ballantyne of Ely, Robert (Carolyn) Koppes, Kansas City, MO., Lois McGannon, Cedar Rapids, Mary Theresa (John) Polston, Westminster, Colorado; many great nieces, nephew and friends. She took a great interest in all of the family activities. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin on September 21, 1998; brothers, Franklin Reyner and Arthur Reyner and a sister who died in infancy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Thursday, February 2nd, 2006 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Bellevue. The Rev. Fr. Steven Meyer will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue.
