Imelda M. (Manderscheid) Kueter, 97 of Bellevue, passed away on, Thursday, July 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am, Monday, July 29, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue. Visitation will be 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, additional visitation will be 9:00am – 10:00am, prior to Mass at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.
Imelda was born December 17, 1926 in rural LaMotte, the only child of LeRoy and Mary (Manders) Manderscheid. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in 1944 and earned her teaching certificate at University of Dubuque and also attended Loras and Clarke College. Imelda taught in rural schools for 4 years and then St. Joseph’s Elementary for 15 years, she also helped on the family farm. She married Gregory J. Kueter on September 14, 1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, he passed on July 26, 2008. Imelda was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, active in the Rosary Society, Parish Council, and Mission Quilting. She also volunteered for St. Joseph’s Hot Lunch and at Mill Valley Care Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, quilting and crocheting, gardening, caring for her flowers, and watching ball games with friends and family. Imelda will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include her children, Lila (Tom) Rieckens, Nancy (Joe) Ploessl, Stan (Sandy) Kueter, Mick (Mike) Wolter, Chuck (Sharon) Kueter, and Jan (Dave) Brinker of Bellevue; 2 granddaughters, Tracy (Mark) Oliver, Katie (Michael) Peterson; 13 grandsons, Scott (Taylor) Rieckens, Brett (Tami) Ploessl, Travis (Cortney) Kueter, Jesse (Jackie) Kueter, Jared (Lindsey) Kueter, Tyler (Megan) Kueter, Nathan (Megan) Wolter, Nic (Heidi) Kueter, Ben (Shannon) Kueter, John (Lori) Kueter, Ryan (Nelly) Brinker, Alex (Laura) Brinker and Lindsey Wolter Herman; 33 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also, sister-in-laws Armella Kueter, Cleta (Harold) Herrig, and Elaine Schumacher.
Imelda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Greg, her grandson, Jacob Wolter; brother-in-laws, Nester, Paul, Milo (Mary), Ralph and Quentin Schumacher; sister-in-laws Bernice Ehlers and Ceil (Lorin) Hager.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph’s Church or Hospice of Dubuque in Imelda’s memory.
