James "Jim" Meier

James “Jim” Meier, 78 of Bellevue, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

Visitation will be from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm (Noon), Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral & Cremation Service in Bellevue. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 pm (Noon) at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors conducted by Bellevue American Legion Post #273 will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.

Jim was born May 30, 1947, the son of Leo and Mavis (Sprank) Meier. He graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1965. Jim served his County during Vietnam Era in the U.S. Army National Guard. Jim met Dorothy Klein when he was 10 years old at country school. Dorothy and Jim later were engaged during Christmas of 1975 and married on June 12, 1976, she passed early this year on March 2, 2025. He farmed on the family farm in rural Bellevue for over 50 years. Jim enjoyed car cruising with the Main Street Cruisers in his 1967 GTO. Jim and Dorothy enjoyed many adventures and trips throughout the Midwest. Jim never met a stranger and enjoyed telling stories and visiting.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Meier and John Meier; sibling, Mark Meier, Lynn Meier, and Kevin (Karla) Meier; a sister in-law, Mary (Doyle) Roos and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; mother and father in-law, Margaret and Harry Klein; a brother in-law, Dennis Klein; and a sister in-law, Helen Klein.
