James N. Pitts

James N. Pitts, 87 of Springbrook, died Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Mill Valley Care Center, in Bellevue. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook, officiated by Father Phillip Kruse. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post #273. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday Evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again on Tuesday morning after 9:30 until Mass begins at the Church. Jim was born on June 18, 1924 in Zwingle, son of Nicholas and Cecillia (Schilling) Pitts. He served the United States Army during WWII. Jim married Margaret Cloos on September 7, 1949 in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Jim was part owner with Peter and James Cloos of Cloos and Sons in Springbrook, where he worked for 34 years. He retired in 1985. Jim was a hard worker and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Jim was kind hearted and had a great sense humor. He will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 62 years, Margaret, of Springbrook; five sons, Mike (Betty), of Springbrook, Dave (Sandy), of Springbrook, Jerry (Mari Jo), of Bellevue, Larry (Kate) Pitts, of Springbrook, and Roger (Sharon), of Springbrook; 12 grandchildren, four great- grandchildren; a step great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary Makovec, of Dubuque and twin sister, Sally (Elmer) Schiffer, of Key West, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe and Bill; sister, Marge Schlegel; and great granddaughter, Monica. The Pitts family would like to express their sincere thanks to Tri-State Dialysis, Mill Valley Care Center and Hospice of Jackson County for their compassion and concern. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Jims name. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hachmannfuneralhome.com.
