June 26, 1935 — October 3, 2007

Janet E. Lemke, 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at her home. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 7, 2007 from 4 8PM at Lemke Funeral Homes South Chapel, 2600 Lincolnway, Clinton, Iowa. A prayer vigil will be held at 4:00PM. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 8, 2007 at 10:30AM at Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Parish St. Marys Church. Father Anthony Herold will officiate. A one-hour visitation will be held prior to funeral service on Monday, beginning at 9:30 AM at the Church. Pallbearers will include Greg Michael and Zachary Waitcus, Justen Grimes, Jeff Van Nocker, Dan Whitehead and Douglas Drury. Burial will be at St. Marys Cemetery. Janet was born June 26, 1935 in Clinton to Joseph and Agnes (Curtis) Lynch. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Marys High School and received an Associates Degree from Mount St. Clare College. Janet married Reinhard Lemke on July 19, 1958 at St. Marys Church in Clinton. She worked for St. Josephs Grade School, Peterson Von Maur, Brumer Dudley Jewelry Store, House of Sirgany and was a Teachers Assistant with Prince of Peace Schools. Janet was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. She was an avid tennis player, winning several city championships. Janet belonged to the Girls Card Club of which she was a member since high school. She enjoyed playing golf. Survivors include her husband, daughters; Renee Drury of Clinton, Lisa (Jeff) Van Nocker of Gainesville, FL and Laura (Dan) Whitehead of Gainesville FL, sons; Gregory (Yvonne) Lemke of Phoenix, AZ and Eric (Wendy) Lemke of Lake St. Louis, MO, sisters; Ilene Forest of Pleasanton, CA and Diane Thorton of Sacramento, CA and brothers; Carlos (Bev) Lynch of New Canaan, CT and David (Dolores) Lynch of Spokane, WA. Her parents, sisters Lois Yackshaw and Joan Short, preceded her in death. Memorials can be made to Mercy Hospice or to Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Parish Building Peace Campaign.
