Janice K. Johnston, 59 of Alta Loma, California, formerly of Oelwein, Cedar Rapids and Bellevue, Iowa, died on Sunday afternoon, November 26, 2006 at the San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland, California after a brief illness. Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein with Rev. John Kerr officiating. Visitation: 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Friday at the Kingery Funeral Home in Bellevue, Iowa. Visitation: 11:00 to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa. Janice Kay Sefert was born on April 12, 1947 at Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Percy Ray & Mildred Imogene (Hill) Sefert. She graduated from Oelwein High School and received her bachelors degree from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa. Janice was united in marriage to Ronald Warren Johnston on April 13, 1988 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Janice had been employed by Rockwell Collins for over 35 years. She worked at Cedar Rapids and was the first manager of the Bellevue plant. She moved to California 8 years ago where she continued to work for Rockwell. Janice is survived by her husband: Ron Johnston of Bellevue; Son: Jeff (Shelly) Johnston of Des Moines; Daughter: Ann (Bryan) Smith of Marion; 2 Grandchildren: Breanna & Brennan Smith; Mother: Millie Sefert of Oelwein; 4 Brothers: John Sefert of Montgomery, Texas, Jim (Jill) Sefert of Oelwein, Gary (Mary) Sefert of Oelwein & Phillip (Bonnie) Sefert of Jacksonville, Florida and Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her father: Ray on September 25, 2005.
