Janis M. Ploeger (Weis)

Janis M. Ploeger, 75, of Bellevue, died peacefully at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 22, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, March 26 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00pm, Wednesday at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Thursday morning after 9:00 at the funeral home. Janis was born the daughter of Nick and Marie (Michel) Weis on October 7, 1939. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Bellevue, class of 1957. Janis married Wayne Ploeger on August 23, 1958 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue, he passed away on September 5, 2005. Janis was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the Rosary Society and volunteered at the hot lunch program from 1970 to 2014. She served lunch to all her children and grandchildren in that time. Janis kept busy between church activities, socializing with friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She always had a special connection with her grandchildren and she was extremely proud of all of them. Those left to honor her memory include her two sons, Dennis (Diane) and Gary (Sharon), both of Bellevue; daughter, Sharon (Marty) Kramer, of Bellevue; six grandchildren, Crystal, Brooke, Dustin, Derek, Kelli, and Stephanie; a great granddaughter, Addalyn and great grandbaby Hartmann due in June; two brothers, Donald (Mary Lou) Weis, and Thomas Weis, both of Bellevue; and a sister, Lois (Wayne) Kilburg, of Bellevue.
