Karen L. Potter, 82, of Maquoketa, passed away on Friday, October 08, 2021 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. Per her wishes no public services will be conducted. Local arrangements at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue.
Karen was born August 3, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa. She was the head bartender and cashier at Bluff Lake for 34 years before retiring. Karen enjoyed in her earlier years, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, and attending her children and grandchildren sporting events.
Survivors include her children, Cindy (Terry) Koontz, Michael Griffin, Angel Schiffer, Matthew Potter,and Joseph P. Potter III; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 2 nieces; 1 great-niece; 2 great-nephews; 1 great-great nephew; many good friends; especially Cheryl.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary (Hladky) Johnson; a sister, Arlene (Clarence “Cuz”) Irwin, Jr.; a son in-law, Jim Schiffer; and a nephew, Gary Shearer.
