Kenneth "Ken" J. Schmidt

Kenneth J. “Ken” Schmidt, 55 of Bellevue, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 following a long battle with glioblastoma.

Family will greet friends 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Sunday, September 14 at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue with a Prayer Service to begin at 5:00 pm.

Ken was born February 22, 1970, the son of Eldon and Valerie (Roling) Schmidt. He graduated from Bellevue Community High School in 1988. Ken enjoyed working and driving feed truck for many years for Tebbe Feed Service in Springbrook and he also worked for ADM in Clinton until his decline in health.

Ken enjoyed mostly spending time with Cole and Courtney, his children. They were his most cherished part of his life. When he wasn’t spending time with his kids he could be found maintaining his landscaping and truck. At the drop of a dime, Ken would stop what he was doing to help family and friends in need.

Survivors include his children, Cole Schmidt of Bellevue, Courtney (John Ryley) Shadix of Stephenville, Texas; his parents, Eldon and Valerie Schmidt; siblings, Terry (Adrianne) Schmidt of Maryland, Darren (Sara) Schmidt of Sabula, Jason (Steph) Schmidt of Sabula, Eric Schmidt of Dubuque, Jeff (Natasha) Schmidt of Bellevue, Nicole Schmidt of Dubuque, Brandon Schmidt of Bellevue, and Christopher (Kaitlin) Schmidt of Bellevue; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

Ken was preceded in death by a sister at birth, Jolene and his grandparents, Art and Loretta Schmidt and Klara Lipay.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors at Mercy One Oncology, amazing staff at Stonehill Care Center, Dr. Baskaya and the team at the University of Madison Neurology Department for their compassionate and wonderful care.
