Lavonne (Koob) Miller

Lavonne Tooty Miller, 81, of Bellevue, Iowa, passed away Friday evening, March 7, 2014 at her home in Bellevue. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday morning March 11, 2014 at the Green Island Congregational Church in Green Island. Friends may call Tuesday Morning an hour prior to the service at the church. Lavonne was born on June 7, 1932 in Green Island to Walter and Nellie (Vanderhiden) Koob. She married Marion Miller on September 19, 1949 in Preston. Lavonne and Marion had a great marriage and raised their two children, Jr. and Kathy in Miles. In 1968, Marion passed away suddenly. Lavonne was forced to become independent and overcame great struggles as a single mother, she worked hard and provided for her family. After her children graduated and started their own families, Lavonne decided to move by her sister, Delores in Las Vegas. She became an Operating Room Technician for Sunrise Hospital and worked there for over thirty years. Lavonne did her job well and was highly respected. After retirement she moved to Bellevue to be close to her family. Lavonne told it like it was, called a spade a spade but at the same time was always supportive and loving. She was a strong women who was organized and liked to look nice. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her children, Kathy (Mark) St.Clair, and Marion Jr. (Glenda) Miller, both of Bellevue; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and a sister, Delores (William) Roth, of Phoenix, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. The family would like to thank Hospice of Jackson County for the excellent care and compassion shown to Lavonne and her family.
