Leon Peter Kilburg, 71, of Springbrook, passed away Saturday evening, January 12, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning, January 17, 2013, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Leon will be held from 4:00 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and again on Thursday morning after 9:30 a.m. also at the church until mass time. A Scripture Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the visitation. Leon was born on September 23, 1941 in Springbrook, Iowa, son of Nicholas and Frances (Clasen) Kilburg. He married Mary Trenkamp on October 1, 1966 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Springbrook. Leon was very easy going, creative, resourceful and had a great sense of humor. Leon and his wife farmed for over 46 years and he truly enjoyed it. He also enjoyed working on his many antique tractors. Music was also important to Leon, he enjoyed playing his guitar and entertaining friends and family. Leon loved to watch the Green Bay Packers, always made time for his family, and he was extremely proud of his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 46 years, Mary, of Springbrook; four sons, Gregg (Darla), of Tipton, Iowa, Bruce (Shawn), of Sabula, Nick (Malinda), of Tacoma, Washington, and Ted, of Bellevue, Iowa; four grandchildren, Alisha, Brandon, Allison and Hannah; two brothers, Arlin (Bernice), of Maquoketa and Donald (Viola), of Maquoketa; three sisters, Norma Jean (David) Sieverding, of Bellevue, Sr. Lou Ann Kilburg OSF, of Dubuque, and Judy Moran, of Bellevue.
