Lloyd Albert Thola

August 23, 1933 — February 13, 2016

Lloyd Albert Thola, 82, of Clinton, formerly of Bellevue, passed away, Saturday, February 13, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics due to a head injury sustained in a fall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, February 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation for Lloyd will be held from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, in Bellevue and again Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Lloyd was born on August 23, 1933, in Cottonville, Iowa, the son of Arnold and Matilda (Reistroffer) Thola. He married Marilyn Budde on August 24th 1954, together they raised 10 children on their Century farm in Cottonville, she passed away on September 18, 1980; marrying Kathleen Schmidt on August 8, 1987. Lloyd, a happy fun-loving person, with an infectious laugh and smile,enjoyed conversation with anyone. His hobbies were carpentry, dancing, gardening, searching for Morel Mushrooms, wine making and Road trips with family. Lloyd loved family events, grandchildren holding a special place in his heart.. He was a great man and will be truly missed. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kathleen, of Clinton; nine children, Lloyd (Karen Lamansky) Thola, of Burlington, Iowa, Robert (Sheila) Thola, of Bellevue, Lorin (Cathy) Thola, of Tyler Texas, JoAnn (Mike Hocking) Thola,of Dubuque, Sheri (Wade) Kahn,of Cataldo, Idaho, Donna (Eric) Bottman, of Mullan, Idado, Dwain (Carol) Thola, of Petoskey, Michigan, Delbert (Shannon) Thola, of St. David, Arizona and Karen (Keith) Smith, of Davenport; two step-daughters, Andrea (Chris) Barnett, and Leslie (John) Yahn; 45 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Doyle. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marilyn; daughter, Mary Jo Thola, granddaughter, Megan Bottman, step-daughter Vicki Regennether; two brothers, Cecil and Donald and a sister Velma Steines.
