Lorin N. Kilburg

Lorin N. Kilburg, 72 of rural Bellevue, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Lorin was born May 22nd, 1933 the son of Melvin and Luella (Hoffman) Kilburg. He married Alice Sieverding on September 9th, 1952 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Bellevue. Lorin spent all of his life farming in the Springbrook area. He was a life-long member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he served as lector, Eucharistic minister, greeter and sang in the adult choir. He also served on the parish council and stewardship committee. Lorin was a Knights of Columbus member for 53 years in the Bellevue Council #1354. During those years Lorin served as Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and District Deputy. In 1966 Lorin became a 4th Degree member of the Dubourg Assembly #1573 and served the office as Faithful Navigator. Lorin was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus until his death including his current position as Bingo Chairperson. He was the drummer in the Paradise Kings Band, later known as the Sieverding Band. He was active in numerous other organizations including New Hope Support Group, Springbrook Fire Department Agency, Jackson township trustee and past member of the NFO. Lorin was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son and brother. He loved dancing and music especially playing for the Polka Masses. He enjoyed attending his grandchildrens activities and will always be remembered for his caring nature and warm sense of humor. Survivors include, his loving wife Alice (Sieverding) Kilburg, Springbrook, daughters, Jane (Dave) Heiar, Manchester, Judy (Dave) Herrig, Carole (Joe) Kies, Barb (John) Flammang all of LaMotte; son, Terry (Rose) Kilburg, Bellevue; his mother Luella Kilburg, Springbrook, grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Heiar, Elizabeth, Thomas and Kathryn Heiar, Lisa (John) Wilder, Matt (Jennifer) Herrig, Jessica, Dan (fiancé Jenna Kalmes) Herrig, Nick (Tara) Kies, Sarah and Mike Kies, Stephanie and Josh Flammang, Jessup, Mikayla, Tyler and Nick Kilburg, Clayton, Trea, Chace Cisne; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Ellie Jane Heiar, Madison and Ana Herrig and two on the way; one sister, Darlis (Billy) Croce, Maquoketa; two brothers, Carl (Maureen) Kilburg, Maquoketa and Dennis(Liz) Kilburg, Springbrook; one sister-in-law and eight brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Kilburg and brother, Mahlon Kilburg, Godchild, Keith Croce. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, January 9th, 2006 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook. Rev. Fr. Donald Plamondon will preside. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 PM at the Kingery Funeral Home, Bellevue and again on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass at the Church in Springbrook. The Kingery Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bellevue is in charge of the arrangements.
