Marcella Frances Bechen, 88, of Bellevue, IA, died Wednesday Evening, December 1st at Presbyterian Manor in Lawrence, Kansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 7, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for Marcella will be held from 3:00 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Tuesday morning after 9:00 until procession to the church. Cemetery Rosary Marcella Mueller was born April 1, 1922 in Bellevue, IA, daughter of Alban and Theresa (Ries) Mueller. She married Melvin Bechen on June 28, 1944, he preceded her in death on October 10, 1986. Marcella graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940, She attended the University of Dubuque during that summer and began teaching in the fall. She continued to teach through the early 1950s and later worked as a private tutor. Marcella was known as a caring person having volunteered in many community activities and organizations. She served as Bellevue co-chairman of The American Cancer Society, Rosary Society Band Leader, Mill Valley Care Center Volunteer, an Election poll worker and also assisted with the school hot lunch program. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several clubs over the years. She also loved to travel and had visited many places, she particularly enjoyed the Midwest, California, Alaska, Hawaii, Caribbean, and Western Europe. Surviving are her three sons, Paul (Barb) , of Tulsa, Oklahoma, John, of Lawrence, Kansas, Phillip, of Vernon Hills, Illinois,; a brother, Edward (Madonna) Mueller, of Bellevue; two sisters, Gertrude (Warren Skip) Raymond, of Durant and Patricia Greene, of Dubuque; and a sister in-law, Sandra Mueller, of Bellevue She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, two brothers, Archie and Earl; a sister Frances Kelly; a sister in-law Averle Mueller, two brothers in-law, Lawrence Jim Kelly, and Donald Greene.
