Marcella G. 'Sally' Callaghan

Marcella Sally G. Callaghan, 91, of Bellevue, passed away Saturday, October 20th, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. Sally was born March 31st, 1916, in Bellevue, daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Holzhammer) Fens. She married John B. Callaghan on February 27th, 1943 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. He survives. Sally graduated from St. Josephs High School in Bellevue and later worked for 32 years at the Bellevue Herald Leader. She enjoyed her Tuesday morning Culture Club and was an avid bridge player and Chicago Cubs fan. She also was a member of St. Joseph Parish and the Rosary Society. Besides her husband John Callaghan she is survived by her children; Peggy (Eugene) Kuhajek, Crystal Lake, IL, Catherine Manderscheid, Las Vegas, Nevada, John (Janet) Callaghan, Green Island and Jeanne Gagnon, Toronto, Canada; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother Edward Fens. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. The Rev. Fr. Stephen Meyer will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Monday form 4-7 at the Kingery~John C. Lemke Funeral Home in Bellevue and again on Tuesday from 9:30 until the time of procession.
