Marguerite Stamp

Marguerite Stamp, 85 of Bellevue, died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Mill Valley Care Center. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 13 at First Presbyterian Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Kingery~Lemke Funeral Home and again Friday after 12:00 at the church. Marguerite was born on October 18, 1924 in Plymouth, daughter of Archie and Nellie (Frederick) Vosburg. She married Erwin Stamp on June 7, 1947, he passed away on November 9, 2004. She worked with her husband Erwin, at Stamp Insurance and Law Office for over 40 years. She graduated from Cornell College with a Home Economics Teaching Degree. In her early years she student taught in the Martelle School System and later taught in Strawberry Point. After moving to Bellevue she was a substitute teacher. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian church since 1951. She was a deacon, participated in the church circle and was church treasurer for over thirty years. Maggie was active in Eastern Star, Shriners, Rotary Club Cub Scouts and was a 4H leader. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, flowers and gardening. She was known for her great pies and the afgans she crocheted. Most important to Maggie was her family. Surviving are her children, Jerry (Mary Ellen) Stamp, of Iowa City, Judie (Keith) Kleis, of Baldwin, Jackie (Steve) Hayter, of Scottsdale, Arizona, JoAnn (Dave) Rasmussen, of Jefferson, Iowa, and Jan (Louis) Caspers, of Amana; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Virginia Garrett. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lemkefuneralhome.net.
