Mark Depew, 49, of Urbandale, Iowa formerly of Boone, Iowa, passed to the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Brunswick, Maine on September 11, 1962 to Charley and MaryLee (McKinney) Depew. After his stepfather, Bob Clark, retired; the family moved from California to Boone, Iowa. Mark graduated from Boone High in 1981. He was an employee of ACH Food (Tones) of Ankeny. Marks favorite passion was spending time with his two children, Aaron and Sydney. He looked forward to every Fall, when he could take his dog, Molly, pheasant hunting. He was an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Pittsburgh Steelers football fan. He was loved by all and had many dear friends. His mother and stepfather preceded him in death. He is survived by his father, Charley Depew of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; his children, Aaron and Sydney, and their mother Angela (Brummett) Depew of Urbandale; his fiancée, Lisa (Helms) Dague, and her children Marie and Steven, of Urbandale; his 2 sisters Carolynne (Melvin) Holmberg of Boone and Loree Spooner (Bill Britt) of Newton; his 3 brothers Chuck (Laurie) Depew of Bainbridge Island, Washington, David (Deena) Depew of Bellevue, Washington and Jim (Donna) Depew of Fayetteville, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, and his close circle of friends that treated him like family. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, January 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone. Mark loved the water and outdoors. Interment will be on Tuesday morning, January 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Bellevue First Presbyterian Cemetery in Bellevue, Iowa along the Mississippi River. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue at the Chapel on Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the family.
