Mary Ellen (Blitgen) Puls

Mary Ellen (Blitgen) Puls, 95, of Bellevue, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Mill Valley Care Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bellevue.

Mary was born October 14, 1929, in Bellevue, the daughter of Wilfred and Marie (Simpson) Blitgen. She graduated from Bellevue Community High School in 1947. On June 24, 1949, she married W. John Puls; he preceded her in death on March 15, 2001.

Mary worked as the office secretary at Bellevue Memorial Hospital for five years before joining her husband in running the Bellevue Pharmacy, where she worked until her retirement in 1982.

She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and participated in many civic organizations throughout the years. Mary was also a longtime member of the Bellevue Golf Club and the Bellevue American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, along with many extended relatives.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Arlene (Harold “Hardy”) Eggers and Vivian (Denzil) Clark; and an infant brother, Wayne Wilfred Blitgen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jackson County Humane Society, Bellevue Ambulance, and Bellevue Volunteer Fire Department in Mary’s memory.
