Phyllis (Scheckel) Wagner

April 10, 1935 — July 2, 2014

Phyllis J. Wagner, 79, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Bellevue. Visitation for Phyllis will be held from 2:00 6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again Monday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Phyllis was born on April 10, 1935 in Springbrook, Iowa, daughter of Vern and Ethel (Scholtes) Scheckel. She married Harry Wagner on August 23, 1955 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, Iowa. Phyllis worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa Iowa, and later helped her husband on their farm north of Bellevue. She was a strong, hard-working woman who took pride in her work. In her spare time, Phyllis enjoyed attending a good household auction. Phyllis was a truly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Family was of the upmost importance to her, especially her grandchildren who she enjoyed spending time with. She looked forward to cheering them on at their sporting events; she was truly their number one fan. She was a very proud grandmother. Phyllis took pride in being a homemaker. She kept busy baking, especially making homemade bread, donuts, and strawberry pies. Phyllis took pleasure in making sure her family's favorite dishes were made and she added her special ingredient in each dish, 'her love'. Phyllis was a special person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Those left to honor her memory, include her husband of nearly 59 years; Harry; her children: Jeff (Paulette) Wagner, Jodi (Mark) Banowetz, and Joel (Kristi) Wagner all of Bellevue, five grandchildren Joshua Wagner, Tyler Banowetz, Lindsey Banowetz, Taylor Wagner, and Alyssa Wagner. Two sisters, Sharon (Maynard) Kloft, Cheryl (Loran) Roling, brother in-law Roger Budde, and sister in-law Betty (Wayne) Steichen.
