Richard L. Bayless, 82, of Bellevue, passed away, Thursday morning, July 29, 2010 at his home with his wife, Mary at his side. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue. Visitation for Richard will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday Evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue, where a scripture service will take place at 4:00. There will also be visitation Tuesday morning after 9:30 at the funeral home until procession to church. As per Dicks wishes, after services, cremation rites will be accorded with private family burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Richard was born on June 29, 1928 Adair, Illinois, son of Albert C. and Nellie L. (Lutz) Bayless. He married Mary E. (Wood) Van Paemel on July 1, 1974 in Galena. He joined the Catholic Church, November 8, 1995, and he and Mary were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellevue. Dick joined the Andrew Savings Bank in 1972 as Executive Vice President became President in 1976 retiring in 1991 after 40 years in banking. He was a professional, good natured and caring man who loved his community and always had his customers and employees best interest in mind. He participated in many community activities, Jackson County Bankers Association, Jackson County 4H, as the Horse and Pony Project Leader, Jackson County Economic Development Commission, Jackson County Revolving Loan Fund, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Bellevue Horsemans Club, and active with the Jackson County Pro Rodeo, Illinois Arabian Horse Association, Quad Cities Arabian Horse Club, St. Joseph Church and the Parish Council and Bellevue Knights of Columbus. In his early years he enjoyed raising, training, and showing Arabian Horses, after retirement he raised and sold trout from his fish farm. He also enjoyed taking care of the Bellevue Riverview Park and garden work in general. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Mary E. Bayless, of Bellevue; four children, Michael J. (Catherine) Van Paemel, of Dubuque, Iowa, Mark R. (Faye) Bayless, of Holly Ridge, North Carolina, Mike (Cindy) Bayless, of Crossville, Tennesee, and Susan (Bryan) Underwood, of Cambridge, Illinois; six grandchildren, Gabrielle, Elizabeth, Michael, Cody, Bennett, and Marissa; He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters, George, Millard, Harris, Annadel, Nelberta, and Hazel. The Family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Jackson County, friends and neighbors who have been so helpful during this difficult time.
