Ronald W. Johnson

Ronald W. Johnson, 74, of Miles, Iowa, passed away Monday Evening, November 9, 2015 at Toulan Nursing Home in Toulan, Illinois. A private graveside service will be at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Hachmann Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bellevue, Iowa. Ron was born May 15, 1941 in Maquoketa, Iowa, son of William and Venita (Peoples) Johnson. He married Kathryn Rieckens-Carter on December 18, 1976. They were married for 38 years. Ron was active in the Navy for over five years, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a hardworking man starting his career as a milk truck driver and eventually retiring from John Deere as a tool grinder. Ron was a gas and steam engine enthusiast. He enjoyed woodworking and was a master at building birdhouses. Ron will be deeply missed. Those left to honor his memory include his wife Kathryn, children: Dave Carter, Steve (Mandy) Carter, Penny Carter, Sara Johnson, and Gordon Johnson; five grandchildren; and a sister Doris (Ron) Hayward. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and son, Craig Johnson.
