Russell Arthur Guenther

March 18, 1931 — August 29, 2006

Russell A. Guenther, 75, of Bellevue, passed away Tuesday, August 29th, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. Russell was born March 18th, 1931 in Bellevue, son of the late Milton and Lillian (Hecklesmiller) Guenther. He married Gaynell Roe on June 13th, 1952 in National City, California. She survives. Russell was a signal maintainer for the railroad, working for 44 years before retiring from the CP Rail System in 1993. He was proud to be a Veteran of the United States Navy. Besides his wife, Gaynell Guenther of Bellevue, he is survived by two daughters, Mary (Dan) Kucera, Bellevue and Marcia (Leon) Stillmunkes, Springbrook; one son, Mark (Sara) Guenther, Bellevue; ten grandchildren, Carrie, Bill Theisen, Danielle, Garrett Kucera, Ashley, Kasey, Britney, Trevor Stillmunkes, and Kyle and Kaden Guenther; four great grandchildren; one sister, Gloria (Robert) Medinger, Bellevue and one brother, Dennis (Mary) Guenther, Cedar Rapids and one brother-in-law, Terry Brooks. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one great grandson, Kobe; one sister, Sharon Brooks, one brother, Dale. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, September 1st, 2006 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue. The Rev. Pastor Paul Gammelin will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery, Bellevue, where full military honors will be performed by the local American Legion. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Kingery Funeral Home in Bellevue and again on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of Services at the Church.
