Velma Griebel

Velma M. Griebel 89, of Bellevue, died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation for Velma will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 a.m. Sunday evening at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service and again Monday morning after 10:00 at the church. Velma was born August 22, 1921 in St. Donatus, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lydia (Becker) Sanders. She united into marriage with Frederick Griebel on May 10, 1943; he passed away July 24, 1990. Velma was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Women of the ELCA and the St. John Quilters. She thoroughly enjoyed quilting. She will be deeply missed. Those left to honor her memory include her sister, Alverna Keil; and nieces and nephews, Jim (Barb) Keil, Joanne (Dean) Kilburg and Gary (Jeanie) Griebel, all of Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Mill Valley Care Center.
