Vernon H. Griebel

Vernon H. Griebel, 95 of Bellevue, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Mill Valley Care Center. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2 at St. John Lutheran Church, Bellevue officiated by Pastor Paul Gammelin. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church. Arrangements are being handled by Kingery Funeral Home in Bellevue. Vernon was born March 4, 1914 on the family farm seven miles north of Bellevue where he resided for over 70 years, he was the son of Lewis and Alma (Yeager) Griebel. He was baptized on April 26, 1914, confirmed July 1, 1928, and married Eleanor Hueneke on September 2, 1952 all at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellevue. After nearly 70 years of farming, he retired in 1985 and moved to Bellevue. He was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served in numerous capacities, he was also a member of Farm Bureau Vernon enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing, playing cards and watching the Chicago Cubs. . He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor Greibel, of Bellevue; and many nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold.
