Virgil T. Rocky Eggers 70 of Bellevue passed away peacefully on Monday, July 23, 2018 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Bellevue. A visitation will be from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bellevue and again Saturday morning from 9:00 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Bellevue American Legion Post #273. Rocky was born September 29, 1947 in Bellevue the son of Willard and Marjorie (Wanken) Eggers. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1965. Rocky served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Barbara Trenkamp on September 9, 1972 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Rocky worked for John Deere Works in Dubuque, retiring in 2001 as a Tool Design Programmer. He was a proud member of Bellevue American Legion Post #273, helped with the Bellevue EMS for many years, enjoyed tractor pulling, participating in Bellevue Rodeo activities, and helping all friends with everything from Jo Johns Porta Potty service to simple electrical work. Rocky enjoyed bowling league, family times butchering chickens, and entertaining family and friends. He was a proud member of the Bellevue Community, even participating in the re-enactments of the Bellevue War. He never missed activities his daughters were involved with.Survivors include his wife, Barb; children, Jody (Keven) Bautsch of Chillicothe, IL, Sheri (Lee, Jr. ) Montgomery of Port Charlotte, FL, and Anne (Jason) Galbreath of Chillicothe, IL; 9 grandchildren, Palmer, Kurt, Zacc, Kristena, Julia, Ethan, Joseph, Isabella, and James; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Daryll Butch (Carolyn) Eggers of Bellevue, Kathaleen Carlton of Tampa, FL, Willard Greg (Val) Eggers of Dubuque, Dan (Caroline) Eggers of Marshal Islands, and Bette Tweet (Tom) Lyman of Davenport; sisters and brothes in-law, Nellie Thola, Verlin Jiggs (Pat) Trenkamp, Mary Kilburg, and Ronald (Sandy) Trenkamp. Rocky was preceeded in death by his parents, Willard and Marjorie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil Thola, Leon Kilburg, Karen (Larry) Lundin, and Daniel Trenkamp; father and mother in-law, John and Delores Trenkamp. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dubuque, Bellevue EMS and all the nurses and doctors during Rockys Journey. A special thanks to Father Bernie Grady for leading Rocky and his family in a Last Rites and prayer service on Sunday and also for leading the wake and funeral service.
